I just can't find one by googling because I don't know any term except 'vocal rider' and that obviously brings up the one named 'vocal rider'I did also just find Wave Rider, which is apparently the 'original,' and is a bit cheaper.
But surely Waves doesn't make the only plugin that accomplishes this same goal. Sure I can ride the fader, but that's still limited by my reaction time, and I still have to go through and do it in real time in a separate pass.If I had known about the sale I probably would have bought it. They really don't work quite the same though. And if you don't because it's too expensive then 300$ should look awfully cheap for this plugin. If it pisses you off then tough, because almost every plugin company is going to do that.Besides, heshl has a point too you should have a console or control surface with motorized faders. I doubt you'll find another plugin that works well for cheaper than 79$.Also, the skeuomorphism is kinda something we consider a feature, especially on the plugins that model classic analog units. You should have jumped on it during a sale if you thought it was a necessary tool. Vocal rider was on sale for 79$ the other week. To my ears it didn't sound very musical.I know there are certain vocal lines that it will work well on but it's definitely not for everything.I was expecting to use this on like every track and had been waiting for a sale.For spoken word, it sounds amazing (like just normal talking, not necessarily rap although I haven't tried it on that).
But you can hear the volume go up and down and it sounds pretty artificial. It basically sounds like somebody riding the fader, and it can be quick, sure.
